Jay K. Payleitner is the author of Once Upon a Tandem (Simon & Schuster), 40 Days to Your Best Life for Men (Cook Communications), and the One Year Life Verse Devotional (Tyndale House).

He is also a marketing consultant, speaker, and fathering advocate. A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, he sold photocopiers and law books before settling into an unsettling career in major market advertising. That evolved – under God's clear guidance – into a much more meaningful career as a freelancer and consultant predominantly for clients who make a difference: ministries, Christian publishers, and Christian-owned companies.

For radio, he currently produces "Jesus Freaks Radio", “Today's Father,” “Pro-Life Commentaries,” and “The Phyllis Schlafly Report,” and was sole producer of “Josh McDowell Radio” for its 13-year run.

He has written and produced radio infomercials that have helped send more than 30 million Bibles overseas, hundreds of mission volunteers to Russia , and tens of thousands of Christmas gifts to the children of inmates on behalf of Chuck Colson's “Angel Tree” project.

Jay has written hundreds of print ads, television commercials, radio spots, and collateral for products including books, CDs, airlines, eggs, canned vegetables, steaks, banks, gadgets, rescue missions, grocery chains, printing firms, the Chicago Symphony, Israel tourism, Scofield Bibles, Bibles for Prisoners, and Corona Beer. He also helped name and position Frito-Lay's “SunChips.”

Jay conceived and produced the fast-selling “America Responds” audio series featuring messages from Colson, James Dobson, Tony Evans, Bill Hybels, David Jeremiah and Joe Stowell following the tragedy of 9/11.

Recent and ongoing clients include CBA, The Bible League, the Josh McDowell Ministry, Prison Fellowship, Ravi Zacharias International, Feed the Hungry, Winning at Home, PromiseKeepers, BMG, Tyndale House Publishers, Howard Publishing, Oasis Publishing, Cook Communications, Moore Wallace, Christian Association of PrimeTimers, Concerned Women for America, Eagle Forum, LeaderTreks and the National Center for Fathering.

Also on Jay's list of credits are four posters produced by InspirationArt & Scripture, the very first print ad for the Left Behind book series for Tyndale House, the video productions of “Have You Been Left Behind?” and “The Toddler's Sing-a-long Video,” and more than a dozen witness wear T-shirts.

Jay's writing credits also include dozens of short sketches for church services, retreats, and youth events, articles for industry magazines, and credited excerpts for the book Growing Teen Disciples and the six-book series, “Adventures in Fathering.” He's even written custom comedy bits for comedians Mark Lowry, Ken Davis, and Rodney Dangerfield.

Jay and his wife, Rita, have five kids and live in St. Charles , Illinois.
